$500,000 to The March of The Living from Guma and Jamie Aguiar

Guma and Jamie Aguiar have made a $500,000 contribution to The International March of the Living.  The gift–one of the largest private donations in the organizations history–will enable students without sufficient financial means to take part in the 2009 March of the Living, a three-kilometer march from Auschwitz to Birkenau, the death camp where over 1.5 million Jews perished, on April 21, the 70th Anniversary of the commencement of the Second World War.  According to the Jewish Times, Guma Aguiar, founder of Leor Energy, and his wife will serve as honorary co-chairs of the 2009 event and participate in the march as well.

$8 Million from Guma Aguiar to Nefesh B’Nefesh

Nefesh B’Nefesh received a contribution of $8 million from Guma Aguiar, founder of Leor Energy, to support the organization’s work in bringing Jews from the West to live in Israel. “These vital funds strengthen Israel’s human resources and ensure its future. Approximately 18,000 people have moved to Israel with Nefesh B’Nefesh’s assistance to date and another 12,000 are “in the pipeline,” according to the organization.
